ABOUT
Ben Kassoy (he/him) is the award-winning former Editor-in-Chief of DoSomething.org, the largest tech company exclusively for young people and social change. Now working as a freelance copywriter and editor, Ben is an expert in websites, branding, newsletters, social media, editorial, video, print, and more. He has powered major results for numerous brands, from global production companies, to leading civic tech organizations, to sustainable retailers, and beyond. (Learn more in his portfolio.)
Ben is the coauthor of nine books, including his debut poetry chapbook, The Funny Thing About A Panic Attack (Bottlecap Press, 2023). In 2024, he adapted the collection into a poetry and dance solo show, which has sold out theaters and garnered acclaim in New York, Los Angeles, and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Ben has written for the websites of Elle, GQ, Teen Vogue, Glamour, Details, Women’s Health, AskMen, Bustle, Elite Daily, Well+Good, Brooklyn Magazine, Read It Forward, Her Campus, and others. His poetry appears or is forthcoming in Ghost City Review, JMWW, Defunct Magazine, Pithead Chapel, Cobra Milk, Bodega, Sidereal Magazine, Sky Island Journal, Human Parts, Unbroken Journal, 805 Lit, and One Sentence Poems.
Outside the US, Ben has served as a writer-in-residence at PAWA254 (Nairobi, Kenya, 2020), the African Leadership Academy (Johannesburg, South Africa, 2018), and the Munakata University of Education (Fukuoka, Japan, 2015).
